STEELY DANZA

In a 50-50 split with J S Stables, the gavel dropped for Brilliant Racing Partnership II on hip #786. Purchased for $62,000, this statuesque gray son of the first crop sire Danza is just the second foal out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Unbridled Quest. The mare was lightly raced (which we like) and she is a half to a pair of very talented siblings including Mister Maestro, a rocket of a turf sprinter who fans of Midwest racing may be familiar with.

We were impressed with his physicality and mind from the outset. Debuting on December 28, 2019 at Fair Grounds, we felt he was a work short, but “Tony” almost won by accident. He flashed sharp speed and finished second behind the highly-regarded, odds-on favorite Digital.

Unfortunately Steely Danza suffered some setbacks along the way and he was unable to repeat that promising debut effort in four follow-up starts, but over time he has proven himself to be a hard knocking sprinter. Second six times, he finally broke through with a maiden win this past spring at Fair Grounds.
