Originally purchased by Brilliant Racing managing partner Brandon Stauble for just $6,500 as a Fasig-Tipton October yearling, Templet has proven himself to be a diamond in the rough.

He is first foal out of the Tale of the Cat mare Perdy, who hails from a productive family. Her half brother Crimson King Cat is multiple stakes winning sprinter and career earner of $333,116, and Bella Figura, another one of her siblings, banked $154,441.

Owned in partnership with J S Stables, Templet ran exclusively in maiden special weight races on turf at four different venues prior to being sent to Kathleen O’Connell in Florida. He took his game to a new level under her guidance at Gulfstream, breaking his maiden on January 17 and later taking down his non-winners of two condition by open lengths over the same nine furlong turf distance. Templet was claimed out of that race for $20,000, but our $6,500 “ham sandwich” did bank over $53,000 for us. We wish him and his new connections all the best in the future.
