Out of the final crop by Yes It’s True, a millionaire sprinter and five-time winner at age two, our brilliant filly is out of the Colony Light mare Ginger Light. Yes It’s Ginger (it’s easy to see how our members came up with that name) is sweet, but sassy.

She worked a swift 10.1 at the Ocala April 2-year-olds in training sale, but we were most impressed by her long, efficient stride, the upside of her pedigree and clean vet report. She was consigned by Mayberry Farm, who was also instrumental in the development of the legendary Zenyatta!

“Ginger” was sent to beautiful La Croix Equine in LaGrange, Kentucky, where she was given some time to rest her mind and body and following a partner suggestion process and vote, she was officially named Yes It’s Ginger.

Yes It’s Ginger arrived at trainer Michelle Lovell’s barn on July 20, 2018. Right away she displayed speed in her training, and a classy presence, but it took some time to get her to the races.

After several months of meticulous preparation and lots of TLC from Michelle Lovell and her crew, Yes It’s Ginger made her debut on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Fair Grounds.

In 2019, Yes It’s Ginger displayed talent, heart, class and sass time after time and narrowly missed breaking her maiden in a super-fast special weight race in her final start of the campaign at Churchill before an unfortunate injury sidelined her.

The expenses of a 13-month layoff, forced us to find a partner for Yes It’s Ginger, and fortunately for all involved, Tagg Team Racing and their trainer Greg Foley stepped up to the plate.

We never lost confidence in Ginger. She was a willing patient at LaCroix, we gave her all the time she needed, and she has rewarded us tenfold. Since returning to action in July of 2020, Yes It’s Ginger has posted six wins and three seconds. Good on dirt, she’s a beast on turf.

Now a six-year-old mare, Ginger has been a force to be reckoned with. On June, 27, 2021, at Lone Star, she posted a four-length romp in the Chicken Fried Stakes, and she followed it up six weeks later with a scintillating score in the KY Downs Preview Ladies Sprint at Ellis Park. This past July off a six-month layoff, Ginger ran back in the Chicken Fried Stakes and finished a gutsy third. She has now banked over $325,000.

Yes It’s Ginger is truly a gift.
